Not from the stove.

MasterChef Singapore is a competitive reality cooking show, currently airing on Channel 5.

There’ve been a lot of sumptuous and creative dishes served up this season, and no lack of acerbic wit and savagery either.

Without further ado, the 5 best burns from MasterChef Singapore.

*Slight spoilers ahead*

1. Famous Burn

Marco Pierre White is widely considered the first celebrity chef, basically the prototype Gordon Ramsay.

And that description proved apt when he came up with this Ramsay-esque burn on Sharon’s velouté sauce.

Sharon’s dish needed a bit more flavour, which Sharon took to mean salt, asking Marco if that’s what it needed.

Which lead to this burn.

Sharon’s reaction says it all.

2. Agak-agak

This is in our opinion, the most incisive, hilarious burn of the competition so far.

But it's a tad more complex than your average smackdown, so we'll take you through it step by step.

Nicholas had intended to caramelise the star fruit for desert.

But he unfortunately didn't have time to do it.

And Damian appeared to have moved on from the lack of a desert, enquiring over the cooking process of the curry.

Nicholas sheepishly revealed that he had made a rough estimation on the ingredients, or agak-agak.

Which resulted in this perfect burn.

The reaction from Sharon says it all.

3. Alternate title: Fishkenstein

The challenges on MasterChef Singapore tend to lend themselves to more experimental dishes, or at the very least, dishes that are forced to be quite experimental due to unforeseen challenges.

Sometimes however, experiments don't go as planned.

Technically it's Frankenfish's monster.

4. Quality control

This exchange features Diana and Damian.

It involved Diana's usage of peri peri sauce.

He saw one upside though.

Which culminated in this twist.

Oh no.

5. Guest judge

Guest judges are another fun aspect of the show, and while they might not get the most flamboyant lines or savage burns, sometimes a quick one-liner does the job just fine.

Take this, pho example.

And even if Michelin Star chef Muhammad Haikal Johari didn’t mean it as a negative, there was little doubt over the other judges stance.

Oh no.
