Hui, 69, who is better known as Hui Shiu-hung, is a recognisable face to many Singaporeans having starred in numerous Hong Kong drama serials and movies, more often than not playing villainous roles.
His acting career has spanned close to five decades since he started out in the 1970s.
Retiring in Singapore
In an interview last year with Shin Min Daily News, it was revealed that Hui met his wife in Singapore while working here in the 1980s.
The couple's daughter was born in Singapore before the family moved to Hong Kong.
The newspaper also said Hui has homes in Hong Kong and Singapore.
He and his family have been visiting Singapore and considered the country a good place to retire.
In 2016, some eagle-eyed Singaporeans already spotted Hui hanging out here.
One local even took a photo with him in the Uniqlo outlet at Ion Orchard then.
