Video of crocodile at "Changi" goes viral, netizens explain why it's probably fake

You may have seen a video of a crocodile supposedly spotted at Changi being circulated on Facebook.

Crocodile supposedly at Changi?

The crocodile was seen coming near to the waterbank, and biting onto a huge chunk of meat that was thrown to it.

The incident supposedly took place at Changi.

Analysed by netizens

The video was shared to Facebook groups Nature Society and Trust Me, I'm Singaporean, where netizens analysed the video and suggested that it was not taken in Singapore.

These were the points raised by the netizens:

#1: Boat is not from Singapore

#2: Surroundings do not look like Changi

Some also pointed out details about the surrounding environment, highlighting that it did not look like Changi.

For instance, they said that the signboard was not in English and "none of our breakwaters use mesh material":

#3: Actual location is somewhere in Brunei?

Some have also suggested that the actual location is in Brunei:

Temburong, Brunei

A quick search on Google for a crocodile at Temburong, Brunei, would yield a Borneo Bulletin article.

The article, "Friendly wild crocodile wins hearts in Temburong", was published on Aug. 10, 2018.

It described a crocodile at Temburong as "seemingly friendly and tame", winning the hearts of visitors who would "come to the river bank to feed it with different types of food, particularly fresh meat".

The article also included images of the pier and waterbank at Temburong which look similar to the place captured in the video.
