The Phantom of the Opera, arguably the more famous musical in the world, is coming back to Singapore in 2019.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical will be performed at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands for a "limited season", from April 24, 2019.

It was last performed here in the Grand Theatre at Marina Bay Sands in 2013.

Before that, it was performed at Kallang Theatre in 1995 and the Esplanade Theatre in 2007, according to The Straits Times.

What's the hype about?

The Phantom of the Opera musical, based on a French novel, is about a disfigured musical genius living in an opera house who falls for a young soprano, and his subsequent heartbreak when she chose to be with someone else instead.

Fans of the musical swear by its beautiful music and touching lyrics, with some saying it is even better than Les Misérables.
