Vlogger Nuseir Yassin, or Nas Daily as he is popularly known, may have moved on from Singapore, but one cannot deny our sunny island set in the sea left a deep impression on him.

After all, Nuseir has produced up to 13 videos on Singapore from his trip here and has even met Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to boot.

Why did he stay for such a long time in Singapore?

As reported by The Straits Times, Nuseir had originally planned to leave Singapore for Indonesia in the first week of September.

However, his visa application was subsequently rejected which resulted in the extension of his stay in Singapore for several more days.

Nuseir also put up a video titled "The Forbidden Land" explaining why he did not visit Malaysia, calling it "as difficult for me[Nuseir] to enter as North Korea".

In both cases, his inability to enter both countries was a result of his passport, which is Israeli.

Israel not recognised

Neither Malaysia nor Indonesia have diplomatic ties with Israel.

In the case of Malaysia, as The Star reportsIsraeli passport holders are not permitted to enter the country unless they have written permission from the Home Ministry. Moreover, Malaysian passports bear the inscription, “This passport is valid for all countries except Israel”.

The exception to this rule are Malaysian Christians who are allowed by the Malaysian government to enter Israel for up to 21 days for religious purposes.

As for Indonesia, The Jakarta Post reports that Indonesians can visit Israel for religious purposes under a special visa, while Israelis can visit Indonesia under a "limited stay visa". However, both countries have also been known to bar each other's visitors over the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Even so, this did not stop Nuseir from communicating with his fans in both countries, to explain his position and express his feelings on being unable to enter their countries.

Accused of a "hidden agenda" against Malaysia

In his "Forbidden Land" video, Nuseir acknowledged the lack of diplomatic ties between Israel and Malaysia.

However, it did not stop him from meeting up with Malaysians in Singapore, adding that "for now my friendship with Malaysians could only exist outside of Israel and outside of Malaysia".

Nuseir also ended the video on a hopeful note, stating that when "governments make peace, we will meet inside of Malaysia, inside of Israel and inside of Palestine".

This was not his only video on Malaysia, however.

Nuseir subsequently put up another video titled "The Airport Prisoner" which focused on Hassan Kontar, a Syrian who has been stranded at Kuala Lumpur International Airport since March 7, having fled the ongoing Syrian civil war.

Communication with his Malaysian fans took a turn for the worse on Sept. 8 when Nuseir uploaded a video on Singapore's reverse parking culture.
The video triggered both Singapore and Malaysians.

However, the backlash from the Malaysians was serious enough for Nuseir to put up a post that was visible only to Malaysians in order to clarify his stance.

In his post, Nuseir debunked the circulation of a rumour via a "photoshopped picture" which suggested he had "a hidden Israeli agenda" and rejected it as "categorically false and stupid."

Nuseir also addressed what appeared to be an accumulation of "dissatisfaction" on the portrayal of Malaysia in his videos, stating firmly that he has "great appreciation for your [Malaysian] culture and people". He also said that his video on Hassan was to simply "reflect reality and that's all."

The post's climax however, was on the parking video, which appeared to have generated the greatest level of heat against him. Nuseir writes:

"The Parking Video: this is the biggest one of them all. I did NOT mean to make fun of Malaysians or the way they drive. It was a generic line in the script. It was a PURE coincidence that the license was of a Malaysian. I thought I covered the whole thing, but I guess it wasn't enough. I have nothing against your drivers. Frankly, I don't even care about how Malaysia drives. I was just amazed at the PARKING of cars in Singapore. That's all!"

Nuseir concludes by reiterating his stance that he has nothing against Malaysia and has no hidden agenda. Moreover, he is a person who is "fed up" with the Israel-Palestine issue, hence his mission behind his videos to show "what's GOOD in the world".

Disappointment in being unable to visit Indonesia

In contrast, Nuseir's content on Indonesia currently stands at one post.

The post he put out is focused primarily on his disappointment in being denied entry despite following through with the extensive paperwork required.

Nuseir speculates that it might have "something to do with my Israeli passport" which superseded his identity as a Palestinian Muslim.

Nuseir ends the post with his trademark hope remark however, calling it:

"This is not goodbye. This is see you later."
