I'll be there tomorrow from 3pm to 6pm to paint the third kid, paint the cat and then sign off. I've also invited my 92 years old "model" aunt to "model" in front of the mural tomorrow late afternoon. Come join the fun at 83 Pagoda Street, Chinatown. #heritagemural #chinatownsg #yipyewchong

Started mural painting in 2015

Yip is no stranger to the wider art community.

The 49-year-old accountant-artist has painted murals in places such as Tiong Bahru and Kampong Glam, among others.

His works can be found on his Instagram and his blog.

He has been creating murals of old Singapore since 2015. His first mural, “Amah”, was completed in August 2015.

No formal mural painting training

Yip has no formal training, but he got an early start with his passion in drawing.

The Nanyang Technological University accountancy graduate has been doodling since he was in kindergarten.

He drew his first mural in Raffles Institution.

A common question for him when he first started doing mural drawings was whether he has permission to draw on walls in public.

Since he started, he has done more than two dozen murals as a part-timer painter.
