From now till October 21, 2018, more than 10,000 sunflowers will be featured as part of Gardens by the Bay's "Sunflower Surprise" Floral Display.

Wizard of Oz theme

Along the way, you will get to walk down a yellow, sunflower-lined path, reminiscent of the Yellow Brick Road from the Wizard of Oz world created by author L. Frank Baum.

You will also get to take in the sight of Emerald City, the capital city in the fictional land of Oz.

Apart from the wizard himself, you can also get a sneak peek of other characters like the Tin Man:

And even Dorothy herself:

2,000 locally grown sunflowers

Some of the sunflowers were sourced from Malaysia, while 2,000 of them were actually grown in Singapore.

There will be over 40 types of special sunflowers, including the fluffy Teddy Bear sunflowers:

The Russian Mammoth, that can grow to be bigger than the size of a human's head:

As well as the Moulin Rouge, a unique deep-burgundy sunflower with a dark brown centre.:

Free guided tours

There will also be free guided tours for the Sunflower Surprise.

Each tour lasts about 15 minutes, with the guides sharing botanical facts and anecdotes about the floral display.

Interested participants can gather at the "ASK Me!" poster located near the Flower Field, and each tour will only begin when there's a group of five or more.

Tickets from S$18 for Singapore citizens

The display will run from August 31 to October 21, 2018.

Standard tickets go for S$28 each, which entitles a ticket holder to enter the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

Singapore citizens, however, can get the same ticket for S$18 if the tickets are purchased online.
