Someone's in the mood.

National Day is around the corner.

And election fever is heating up, even though the next one is not due until January 2021.

How do we know?

A former People's Action Party member has gathered his own merry men with ukuleles to sing Count On Me Singapore for the camera:

This rather impromptu performance came out of nowhere when it was uploaded by the 26-year veteran ex-PAP MP Tan Cheng Bock on Facebook on Aug. 3.

The caption accompanying the video, which appeared pedestrian and agenda-free, read:

My dear Singaporeans, my Raffles Institution alumni friends and I made this ukelele video to express our love for Singapore and to celebrate National Day 2018.

It's a timeless song of hope and vision for a better Singapore.

May the song speak for your heart as it does for mine.

Agenda-free?

Before this video was up, Tan, 78, was in the news barely a week ago for meeting with seven other opposition parties on Saturday, July 28, to discuss if he can lead them in the next general election.

Also, as there are no such things as coincidences in politics, singing Count On Me Singapore for an audience mere days after that sort of meeting will inevitably take on a different meaning than whatever was intended.

One of the entities that shared Tan's video was People's Power Party, which was one of the seven parties present at the meeting with Tan:
