What represents Singapore?
#WhatMakesSG
In the lead-up to Singapore’s 53rd National Day, the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) partnered with National Geographic on a #WhatMakesSG collaboration.
The campaign included a photo contest held in April this year where various photos are submitted to interpret what makes Singapore our home.
Over 7,000 entries were received from people from all walks of life.
And out of all these images, five winners were picked by two renowned judges: National Geographic photographer Michael Yamashita, and Nobel Peace Prize photographer Sim Chi Yin.
Winning entries
The grand prize winner for the photo contest went to Kang Yen Thiing who photographed the Bishan otters.
As the grand prize winner, Kang won a National Geographic Photography Expedition to Yellowstone.
Her entry will also be featured on the #WhatMakesSG website and a Special Singapore Edition National Geographic Magazine.
After the expedition, she will be invited to photograph Singapore and have her photos featured on Gov.sg platforms.
Here are the other photos that nabbed the runner-up prizes:
The People's Choice award went to Leslie Heng for his photo at Gardens By The Bay.
