Thai Fusion Wanton Mee is a hawker stall in Ang Mo Kio.
As their name suggests, the wanton mee sold leans more towards those found in Bangkok than the ones we would typically get at other coffee shops.
What to eat
First off, try the Thai Wanton Mee (S$3.50/S $4.50/S$5.50).
Instead of the normal wanton mee that is tossed in dark sauce, the egg noodles here are coated in a sauce made from hoisin sauce, fish sauce, and lard, giving the noodles a hefty dose of umami.
The noodles here are served with fried wantons and stir-fried garlic pork slices instead of the usual char siew (BBQ-ed pork).
You'll also get a side of pork bone broth.
Sides
The Thai Fried Chicken Wings (S$1.40/ mid-joint piece, minimum two pieces) are coated with turmeric and marinated overnight.
At S$1.40 a piece, the price seems a bit steep for a tiny mid-joint. It does, however, sound like a great side to go with your wanton mee.
Next is the Fried Wanton/ Wanton Soup (S$3/ S$5 / S$7).
These wantons are handmade daily and are well-seasoned with soy sauce, pepper, and oyster sauce.
