A Malaysian couple tried to fight off a robber hijacking their car, with the husband getting slashed in the process.

The incident happened outside a convenience store in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, last Monday, July 16.

Armed robber slashed the husband

According to the district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaki Che Din who told the New Straits Times, the lone robber had initially attacked the convenience store's shopkeeper and took some money from the cash register.

He then used a parang and slashed the unsuspecting husband who entered the store while his wife was waiting in the car.

The robber then exited the store and got onto the couple's car.

When the husband went after the robber, the robber got out of the car, slashed him again and grabbed his car key.

They then got into a scuffle, with the wife joining in and trying to pull the robber away from her husband, but to no avail.

The robber then got into the car and tried to drive away.

The wife got into the car as well to try and stop him, but got out shortly after when she could not.
