A 16-year-old boy is assisting the Singapore police in investigations after video clips showing a youth throwing ofo and oBike bicycles into a river were posted online, according to Channel News Asia.

The youth was first seen throwing an ofo bicycle from a bridge into the river in an Instagram story video.

He was wearing an orange T-shirt and black shorts while smoking a cigarette.

The same youth appeared in a second video in a white T-shirt tossing an oBike off the bridge.

This video was circulated after the first video, but is believed to have been taken at least one year ago at the same location.

The location is at the Lorong Halus pedestrian bridge in Punggol.

Youth is sorry

In an interview with The New Paper, the boy has been identified as a 16-year-old student.

The incident where the youth in orange tossed the ofo bike into the river supposedly occurred at about 4pm on Monday, July 16.

He was with a group of about 10 youths when they saw what they claimed was a damaged ofo bicycle.

The group then dared one of the boys to toss it off the bridge.

The youth said he did it because he was feeling stressed at home and at school.

He said: "My friends kept chanting and pressuring me to throw the bike into the water."

The video was shared on Instagram but was taken down half an hour later, TNP reported. By then it was reposted widely online.

The boy said he regretted his decision and promised not to do it again.

"I should have ignored my friends instead of listening to them," he said.

"I know it isn't the right thing to do and I regret my decision. I'm really sorry."

"Now people around me make jokes about me when they see me and I feel really stressed out about the situation."

Same boy

It was TNP that reported that it was the same boy who was involved in a similar incident more than a year ago, when he tossed an oBike from the same location on a dare.

That incident was also captured on video where the boy was seen wearing a white t-shirt, and was circulated following the incident on Monday.
