Identity of NS man revealed

The identity of the man was largely unknown, until the Singapore Amy picked up on it and managed to find out who he is.

According to a Facebook post, the Singapore Army revealed that he is Lance Corporal Kyler Sng from Headquarters 2nd People's Defence Force (2 PDF).

Sng recounted that the incident happened on July 5, at around 6.20pm.

He had just alighted outside his home where he saw an elderly lady crossing the street.

He noticed that there were only 10 seconds left on the traffic light and "there was no way that she would cross in time at the pace she was moving at."

Concerned that an accident might occur, Sng decided to stop the traffic on his own.

Little acts can 'help save a life'

Sng's gesture was commended by the army, who "[saluted] him for stepping forward to help out."

Speaking to the SAF, Sng explained that his "personal ethics is to always do the right thing regardless of the circumstance."

Sng also encouraged others not to shy away should such a situation arise.

"Little acts of kindness like could even help save a life," he added.
