They didn't have to do it, but they did.

Foreign workers in Singapore occasionally go beyond their call of duty to help others in need out of their own volition.

Now, here's another small yet meaningful gesture that another group of foreign workers did after an accident recently.

Accident between pedestrian and car

On July 6, one Cuifen Pui shared her experience of witnessing a heartwarming act in the aftermath of an accident at Bukit Batok Road.

She was going through the regular morning rush, calling for a Grab and exchanging greetings with her neighbours when she heard a thud at Bukit Batok Road.

That's when she saw a woman falling to the ground after a car had hit her.

The driver then got out of his car and made some calls.

Foreign workers placed safety cones around accident site

One foreign worker, who was doing some roadworks right next to the accident site, then walked over to pass the woman her shoe that fell off due to the impact of the crash.

While he could have just returned the shoe and continued with his work, the foreign worker apparently went on to talk to the woman and also signalled to his fellow workers to bring their safety cones over.

The cones were then placed behind the car and around the woman.

Pui also mentioned that one foreign worker shielded her from the sun with an umbrella while the others formed a protective circle around her.

From this short experience, Pui shared:

"I felt I had lots to learn from the workers as they clearly know better how to respond."
