RM900 million to RM1.1 billion: Total value of cash & items seized from ex-PM Najib's residences

Police are calling Najib and Rosmah in for questioning soon.

Malaysia police’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh revealed on Wednesday, June 27, the value of items seized at several several residences linked to former Malaysia prime minister Najib Razak.

◘ The total value is between RM900 million (S$304 million) and RM1.1 billion (S$371 million).

◘ The cash seized from 35 bags amounted to RM116.7 million (S$39.5 million) in 26 currencies.

◘ It took three days to calculate the cash with the assistance of 22 officers from Bank Negara.

◘ Out of the 72 large luggage bags seized, 25 contained jewellery such as diamonds, bangles and earrings.

◘ About 12,000 jewelleries seized are worth RM440 million (S$148.9 million).

◘ Among them were 1,400 necklaces, 2,200 rings, 2,100 bangles, 2,800 pairs of earrings, 1,600 brooches and 14 tiaras.

◘ These took 16 days to count.

◘ The most expensive necklace is a RM6.4 million gold necklace with diamond.

◘ Also seized were 567 luxury handbags, including high-grade counterfeits.

◘ These bags are worth RM51.3 million (S$17.4 million) from 37 brands, including Hermes, Birkin and Chanel.

◘ The most expensive bag is RM1.6 million (S$540,000).

◘ Also seized were 423 luxury watches from 100 brands -- Rolex, Richard Mille and Chopard -- worth RM78 million (S$26.40 million), which took eight days to count.

◘ From three bags, police also confiscated 234 sunglasses from 34 brands -- Cartier, Versace and Dior among others -- worth RM374,000 (S$126,600).

◘ The breakdown was derived from items taken from Najib's Langgak Duta residence, as well as homes of his son, daughter, and at empty premise where the boxes and bags were discovered.

◘ Appraising of value and investigations into the items were conducted from May 21 to June 25, through Hari Raya, which took more than a month.

◘ The cash and jewellery are now in Bank Negara.

◘ Singh said: "We should be calling Najib and (his wife) Rosmah soon."
