North Korea leader Kim Jong-un landed in Singapore on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at about 3pm.

He was immediately whisked away from Changi Airport to his next location in a black Mercedes-Benz stretch limousine with tinted windows.

A large convoy of vehicles with a heavy police guard then ushered Kim, believed to be 34 years old, to St Regis hotel -- a stone's throw away from the Orchard Road shopping belt.

One of the most luxurious hotels in Singapore

Rooms at the establishment start at S$320 (US$240) a night.

On the 20th floor of St Regis is the opulent 335m2 (3,606ft2) Presidential Suite, where Kim is believed to be spending at least two nights in.

He is scheduled to depart at 2pm on Tuesday, June 12, after his meeting with United States President Trump, which is slated to happen in the morning.

The St Regis hotel says on its website its Presidential Suite rooms are "lined with gold, and accented with precious metals like brass, onyx and silver", and features a Marc Chagall artwork and a white baby grand piano.

Interior of Presidential Suite

This is how the interior of the Presidential Suite looks like:

No prices are given, but other US media are reporting the hotel to be charging about S$10,683 (US$8,000) per night.

Previously in 2015, the Presidential Suite was listed as going for S$12,450 per night.

It also comes with its own chef and balcony dining option for any presidential guest who might be feeling a little peckish.

CNN once listed this room as one of the most luxurious hotel suites in Singapore:

Lavish furnishings include hand-painted silk panels and a wall fountain water feature. There's also a baby grand piano and original works by big-name artists.

Outside on the wraparound terrace a private chef will whip up dinner on the grill for guests, or -- if they prefer -- inside in the more genteel 12-seater dining area. And to cap it off there's the option of complimentary daily massages for two, in suite.

Interestingly, the three locations where the two leaders are residing and meeting -- St Regis, Shangri-La and Capella -- have within their compounds the most luxurious rooms Singapore has to offer.

Hotel steps up security and privacy

Aside from three official photographs released by the Singapore government, there had been no public sighting of Kim nearly two hours after he landed.

Reporters and photographers that packed the pavements outside St Regis hotel were unable to get a good view of the interior of the compound.

Access into the hotel has been strictly limited to the establishment's guests only.

Covers had been hung over the driveway and hotel security brought out additional potted plants to obstruct the view of the lobby.

It is not known who will be picking up the tab for Kim's hotel stay.
