A nice gesture.

Sometimes, a small gesture can mean so much more.

And a Zayed Talib was so moved by a gesture from local supermarket chain NTUC that he wrote a Facebook post on it, dated June 8.

Stunned by the offer

According to the Singaporean, the outlet at Changi City Point was giving out dates and bottles of orange juice to Muslim customers around breaking fast time.

The service staff at the Changi City Point outlet were even actively directing customers to the freebies, saying,: "For your buka [break fast], come come it's free."

Zayed found the gesture "exemplary" as it not only acknowledges the muslim community, but also understands that they break fast with three dates and where possible, a drink that is wholesome and/or sweet.

Some muslims were even stunned at the offer, and had to confirm with the staff that the food and drinks were for them, free-of-charge.

Zayed described the act as a "deep, elegant, and simple gesture" that made his day, and also something that made it a little better to call Singapore his home.
