The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has ordered the owner of a semi-detached house along Jalan Chempaka Kuning to remove sculptures from his private theme park that have been deemed to be blocking public pathways.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Zhong Wu Wei, 63, is the owner of a piece of landed property along Jalan Chempaka Kuning in Tanah Merah.

He moved in 25 years ago and started building his theme park consisting of animal and cartoon sculptures of Batman and Green Lantern.

The animal sculptures are of rhinos, parrots, cows, turtles, and monkeys.

He also raised more than 30 parrots.

Zhong told the Chinese newspaper that he loved animals since young and wanted to create a pleasant and eye-catching spot in the neighbourhood for his community. His aim was to foster a kampung spirit among his neighbours.

In total, his little playground cost him S$150,000 to construct.

Unfortunately, one of Zhong's neighbours complained to LTA in May 2018 about the sculptures, which took up space on a public walkway.

LTA instructed Zhong to clear out the sculptures blocking the walkway, but he could only clear some of the sculptures.

LTA then threatened to issue him a fine if he did not clear everything.

A few of Zhong's neighbours are dismayed at the prospect of losing the theme park, saying that it definitely enriches the community at Jalan Chempaka Kuning.

It is unsure if Zhong has a deadline to dismantle his mini theme park.
