Customer tells GrabFood S'pore delivery guy to keep meal he ordered so he can break fast

He could've cancelled his order and sought a refund, but he chose not to.

Good service is hard to come by in Singapore.

Even harder to find: kind and generous customers.

But one GrabFood delivery guy had a nice surprise: while still in the early days of the roll-out of Grab's new food delivery service GrabFood, one of the customers connected with him with an odd request.

The conversation they had

This phone text screenshot sums up the pleasant end to delivery guy Khairul Normala's day:

In summary, the customer had texted Khairul to inform him that he would not be around to collect the meal he had ordered — a Chicken Goreng set (S$6.53):

and a Combo 4 (which we couldn't locate on the menu).

But it's basically a full dinner meal.

The GrabFood delivery guy informed him in a text reply that he could call GrabFood's customer service to cancel and seek a refund for his order, since he was still on the way to pick up two other food orders before getting to his, but the customer maintained that he should have it.

So despite being able to cancel his food order and get his money back, just like most other people would have done if their plans changed and they can't be around to receive their meal, this guy decided to let the deliveryman have it for free instead, likely bearing in mind the knowledge that he was working and may not have had time to break his fast for the evening.

So sweet.
