A video of a fight that broke out in a Geylang coffee shop over the weekend is going viral online after it was uploaded to Facebook on Tuesday, June 19.

In the caption accompanying the video, the page, Fabrications About Singapore, claimed that the man was beating up his own mother before the crowd stepped in and things got ugly.

Here is the video:

At the beginning of the video, plenty of shouting is heard, although you can't really hear what they are saying.

An older woman, seen lying on her back on the floor, is helped up by another middle-aged woman.

After some exchanges of vulgarities, a fight breaks out among a group of men, who are seen picking up chairs to hit one another.

At one point, one of the fighting parties attempts to use a table as a weapon, but is unable to lift it up properly.

At least one woman can be heard shouting in the background, while a crowd is seen milling around the scene.

Amusingly enough, a man in yellow is also seen sleeping on one of the tables throughout the entire incident.

Police looking into it

In response to queries from Mothership, the police said they were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt on Saturday, June 16, at 3.07am in Lorong 18 Geylang.

They are currently looking into the matter.

Here is their statement in full:

This is the second high profile fight in Geylang in recent months, with the last reported one at Lorong 19:
