Dad ties older son up for kicking younger brother in the head, teaches him lesson about family

An unconventional lesson.

A father in Malaysia decided to discipline his two young sons in a rather unorthodox way — by tying the older brother up and offering his younger sibling two options: kick his bound brother in the head, or untie him.

This after the older brother was caught on a tuition centre's CCTV bullying his younger sibling and kicking him in the head:

Rather than keep it as a lesson only for his children, the father filmed the entire process and uploaded it to Facebook:

An accompanying caption describes the incident and his own anger at the situation:

Here's a translation of what he wrote:

"Yesterday, my third child was bullied, and the child who bullied him was my second child.

When I saw the CCTV footage below, I was fuming mad... I then decided to pull a really, really hard one on him.

What if the bully wasn't the brother, or what if the child being bullied was not his younger brother...

I don't know if this way of teaching him a lesson is appropriate or effective, but having tried every single trick in the book on my older son, I had to come up with something new.

I guess it's better for me to teach them than for society to do so...

Even though it happened at the tuition centre, this has nothing to do with the teacher at all, because this is the responsibility of the parents...

Parents should not assume that just because they have dumped a bunch of money with a tuition centre, they can leave the responsibility of looking after their children's results and behaviour to them as well.

The task of honing a person's character is one that squarely lies with his or her parents.

I thank my sons' teachers for their cooperation.

Thank you to all of my friends and relatives who have sent me messages, to let this child know that nobody likes badly behaved children.

Please do not worry; I am not about to beat him to death — that was also not the purpose of my sharing this video.

If you have a better method (of disciplining him), please share it with me too.

#don't bully others, and don't let others bully you"

While the incident happened in a tuition centre, the father was quick to stress that it was not the teacher's fault; rather, a child's character and moral code should be taught by his parents.

At time of writing, the video had 21,000 shares.

Disciplinary process

As the video is 10 minutes long, here's a quick summary of how he disciplined his son.

The father starts by showing his three children — two sons and a daughter — the CCTV footage of the bullying on a television screen.

When the older brother admitted to kicking his younger sibling in the head, the father asked his daughter to bring him a Taekwondo belt.

He proceeded to tie his older son up before pushing the latter onto the sofa, while reprimanding him continually: "Why did you bully my son? Why did you kick my son?"

"You think you're very fierce, right?"

"Does it feel good being bullied?"

"Like you're kicking a dog?"

The older sibling turned to his brother and apologised: "Sorry, I was wrong."

Their father, however, was not appeased.

"Are you really wrong?"

"He's your family, and you used your leg to kick him like that? Like you're kicking a dog?"

"If I kicked you like you were a dog would you like it?"

Orders older son to lie down

After more reprimanding, the parent ordered his older son to lie down on the floor.

"You like to kick people's head right? Lie down."

When the child protested, he shouted the instructions again.

When he finally complied, the child was made to lie in a prone position.

Lecturing the younger son

Next, the father lectured his younger son for not retaliating or running away when he was being beaten.

He then taught his son how to handle being bullied, as outlined accordingly:

  1. Dodge
  2. Tell the teacher immediately
  3. If the teacher is not around, hit the bully back

Following this, the father gave his younger son the two above-mentioned options: to kick his older brother, or save him from the bonds.

At this point, both brothers were crying.

"Do you want to help kor kor?"

At this point, the father asked if his younger bullied son wants to help his older brother.

The former indicated "no".

Their parent continued by asking, "Then do you want to kick kor kor? (dialect for older brother)"

"If you want just do it. Otherwise help him undo the belt. If you can't do it, ask your sister to help."

"It's your choice. I will neither hit nor scold you, because I told you not to get bullied."

However, after a cut in the video, brother and sister are seen helping to untie their prostrate sibling.

After they succeeded in doing so, their father turned to the older brother and said "Did you see how your younger brother protected you?"

After more lecturing, the two brothers make up and hug — but not before a stern warning from their father to the older sibling: "And if you repeat the same mistake? I will definitely hurt you."

"Don't be bullied by others, and don't bully others," their father emphasised.
