"It should go fairly well, but people should not expect so much for the first time," Rodman told reporters at the airport.
"The doors are opening."
Self-invite
Rodman was not formally invited to the Trump-Kim summit, but he is a friend to both leaders.
Trump, asked last week if Rodman had been invited to Singapore, said, "No, he wasn't."
This trip to Singapore is sponsored by potcoin.com, the crypto-currency provider for the legal marijuana industry, Rodman wrote on social media.

Rodman so happy he cried
In an interview with CNN at 9.30am Singapore time, right after Trump met Kim on Tuesday, June 12, Rodman cried tears of joy on television.
Even though he was wearing sunglasses, he could be seen choking and holding back tears as he praised the historic summit and insinuated he had a role in brokering it by softening up Kim.
Rodman said: "Today is a great day for everybody. Singapore, Tokyo, China, everything. It is a great day."
Rodman also said he received death threats previously when he met Kim years ago when he was a believer that things would change for the better but there was no one to hear him out.
Rodman has faced ridicule and criticism for his trips to North Korea, which some US politicians and activists view as serving only as fodder for North Korean propaganda.
