Dennis Rodman declares he wants Nobel Peace Prize while eating Maxwell chicken rice

Anything can happen.

First he invited himself to Singapore to show his support for his dear friends Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un and President Donald Trump.

Then he cried with tears of joy while on air with CNN right after Trump and Kim met.

Now he wants the Nobel Peace Prize.

In a 5 minute 33 second video published by Vice News on June 12 and mostly shot at Maxwell food centre, Vice interviewer Isobel Yeung posed Rodman the question of whether he deserved a reward for his 'involvement' in this summit.

To which he unhesitatingly replied with a dramatic gesture, "Yeah I do. Yes, I do. Nobel Peace Prize...I deserve that, gimme that."

So why does he think he deserves the prize?

He clicked well with Kim

Prior to Yeung's reward question which takes place towards the end of the video, Rodman spoke at length on how he hit it off with Kim when they first met.

  • "We became friends like right away," he snaps his fingers. "Really just like that."

So well in fact, that Rodman feels "I've been knowing this guy for all my life."

When Yeung pressed Rodman on his impression of Kim, whether he was fun or weird, Rodman replied, "He's a fun guy."

After all, some of the things he's done with Kim include:

  • Singing karaoke together
  • Having a couple of drinks together, although Rodman notes that Kim doesn't actually drink much
  • HTHT-ing about life, sports and coming to America, going to a basketball game

He opened Kim's eyes

Rodman goes on to state that if Trump wants to take credit "for all these possibilities that's going to happen to the world", he can take it.

However, Trump should acknowledge that "somebody" had to "open someone's eyes to see what's really going on in the world".

That somebody in question being Rodman himself for opening Kim's eyes to the possibility that "we can maybe work together."

Begged Obama to listen to him about Kim

Accordingly, Yeung raised the question of why Obama's administration didn't listen to him since he got on so well with Kim.

Rodman shrugged and replied:

  • "No clue. He wouldn't listen to me at all. I mean, he was just so, you know, trying to be the first black president ever, dadadadadaa, like that."

Rodman added that, "I begged him to talk to me. I said, 'I just want to talk to you. When I meet you at the White House, let's talk. Let's sit down and talk.'"

Sceptical Trump will win the Nobel Peace Prize

Although he wouldn't be surprised if Trump does actually win a Prize for the summit, Rodman's verdict of Trump is that:

  • "Trump is Trump. If you heard that he won the Nobel Peace Prize...you'd be shocked like a m*th*rf**k*r."

Little wonder, then, that when Yeung poses her reward question right after this moment, Rodman sees himself as an eligible candidate for the Prize for supposedly contributing to making this summit happen.

What will happen if he is nominated?

Whether Rodman will actually win is anyone's guess but should he even be nominated, a highly likely outcome is a boost to the recognition of potcoin.com.

Potcoin.com is a cryptocurrency provider for the legal marijuana industry and as Vox points out, its decision to team up with Rodman hasn't been a bad marketing ploy.

Their sponsorship of his trip to Singapore paid off in the form of Rodman's emotional interview on CNN while wearing a potcoin.com T-shirt. That same day saw a 25% surge of potcoin.com's price.

Considering that Rodman also wore the same T-shirt throughout his interview with Vice, one can only imagine how high the price of potcoin.com will surge should he really be nominated.

It is also worth remembering at this point that under Singapore's Misuse of Drugs Act:

  • The unauthorised import or export of cannabis where the quantity is not less than 330 grammes and not more than 500 grammes, carries a minimum of 20 years imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane to a maximum of 30 years or imprisonment for life and 15 strokes of the cane.
  • Should the quantity exceed 500 grammes, the sentence is death.
