[Update at 2.53pm: Speaking to Mothership, the driver's son, Alan Koh, clarified that it was the culprit's friend who got in touch with his Father. ]

You might have seen a video of this young man who stomped on a 72-year-old Grab driver's windshield without provocation:

A day later, the 26-year-old culprit was arrested for committing a rash act. He has been charged in court on Monday, May 7:

Friend of culprit got in touch with the driver's son

According to Koh, the culprit's friend had gotten in touch with him on the night of May 5 -- the same day the incident occurred.

He had hoped to apologise to the elderly driver on behalf of the culprit.

Koh also said that the friend left a number that supposedly belonged to the culprit, but it turned out to be a dead line.

Repairs might cost S$10,00 and up

In an interview with Lianhe Wanbao, the elderly driver named as Xu explained that he had not sent the car for repairs as it was the weekend, but estimates the cost to be S$10,000 and up.

Furthermore, the car was a purchase registered to his son, which he uses from midnight to 6am for his Grab shift.

However, since the incident, the older man has been feeling jittery in addition to being unable to focus, thus affecting his working hours.

Xu said: "Even if he does not compensate for all the repairs, he should at least recompense me for loss of income."
