Online reactions say driver's actions "dangerous"

On a separate Facebook post, response to the video were on how "dangerous" the driver's actions were.

One other person said that he "will give him a slap".

Why was it caught on camera?

Meanwhile, others were wondering why the person behind the camera was still filming despite thinking that the driver was dozing off.

SBS Transit carried out investigations, bus captain wasn't dozing off

Tammy Tan, senior vice president, corporate communications of SBS Transit said the bus captain was not sleeping at all:

"We have identified the Bus Captain (BC) in the video and conducted an investigation into the incident. While the video seems to suggest that our BC was dozing off at the wheel, our findings based on the CCTV footage from the bus reveals that this was not the case."

According to Tan, the driver was able to keep to his lane, slowed down when approaching bus stops and also stopped safely behind other buses or vehicles.

Bending of neck caused by neck pains

Tan also said the driver has neck pains but is medically-certified to drive, even though the jerking of the driver's neck made it seem as if he was dozing off:

"The BC in question does, however, have neck pains which causes him to bend more than normal but this did not affect his driving ability."

Tan, however, did stress that SBS Transit will take necessary actions if a BC is found dozing off while driving:

"We assure our commuters that dozing off while driving is not something we take lightly and will not hesitate to take action against any BC found doing so.”
