Singapore entertainment lawyer Samuel Seow has been reported to the police on Saturday, May 12, for alleged physical and verbal assault against two former employees, one of whom is his niece, The Straits Times reports.
Seow is the managing director of Samuel Seow Law Corporation and Beam Artistes, the former having represented the likes of former actress Michelle Saram and singer-songwriter Tanya Chua in legal cases.
His niece worked at his law firm, while the other alleged victim was employed by Beam Artistes, an artiste management and events consultation company.
Allegedly assaulted niece on April 17
The police report, filed by the former Beam Artiste employee, claimed that Seow had assaulted his niece over a "work-related issue" on April 17.
Here's what seems likely to be the full audio clip of the alleged incident, supposedly recorded at the Samuel Seow Law Corporation. It spans a full 30 minutes:
As that is a tad long, we've spliced out the particularly rousing bits, along with the relevant transcript.
1:38: Where's Shaun?
The conversation starts with a man's voice, believed to be Seow, asking for the whereabouts of "Shaun":
(Note that we truncated the phone dialling, as it went on for quite a while)
SS: Where's Shaun?
Other guy: Uhhh I check first
[phone dialling sounds]
SS: Where's Shaun, Brenda?
[mumbles with other people]
B: He went out for meeting with Wesley at Thomson Grand but he'll be back by 5.
SS: Then why just now when I was [muffled] you never tell me?
B: I think he will call you later [mumbling]
SS: (Shouting) SO YOU CANNOT SAY ANYTHING BECAUSE YOU KNEW??
B: No I dont know
SS: THEN WHY YOU KNOW
B: What I know is that he has a meeting outside, but I don't know where he is now
SS: What time is the meeting?
B: 4?
SS: You knew [muffled]
[muffled audio]
SS: So if you knew that he is out you could have just said "Oh he went for a meeting at Thomson drive but oh, let me find out what time he will be back" but but [muffled]
SS: I'm talking to you why you don't reply to me WHY I asked you a question
B: I already answer..
SS: Then why did you keep quiet just now?
B: Cause you quiet
SS: So I quiet so you cannot talk?
B: (mumbling)
SS: Checking what? You cannot talk ah? So you knew exactly and you don't want to say anything?

More muffled conversation takes place before Seow allegedly explodes into high-pitched shrieks:
SS: (Indiscernible, highly agitated shout)
B: WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? STOP IT!
SS: You beat me, you dare to beat me??
B: STOP IT!
Two other voices: Boss boss boss Sam, Sam, Sam boss boss boss cool down

[slapping sounds]
B: (shouting) STOP IT!!
SS: (SCREAMING) YOU BEAT ME! WHY! Why you beat me?
Female voice: What is it?? Sam??
SS: She beat me eh
B: HE KEEPS ATTACKING ME
SS: I ask you why, you cannot tell me what was happening, you beat me
B: YOU'RE JUST FINDING FAULT WITH ME
SS: (shouting)
[commotion sounds]
SS: Stop pulling me!
Female voice: Sam, stop it!
B: IF ANYBODY CAN FIND OUT WHERE SHAUN IS I WILL — (indiscernible)
[shouting, indiscernible]
Voices: Sam Sam Sam Boss Sam COOL DOWN! COOL DOWN! SHE'S A GIRL OK
SS: WHAT
Female voice: Stop it, stop it ok?
SS: You knew where he was, then I just (indiscernible) just tell me where he was (indiscernible)

B: I said - because you were already calling and Daniel is also checking
SS: Then what's the difference in you just checking and saying "Oh, by the way, I knew where he was, he was just outside" but this whole time you don't want to say anything

SS: [Someone] is downstairs so I need to find out where he was because she's already downstairs. This is your job. this is his job. Both of you don't want to attend this meeting. OFC: 我打你？我叫你冷静下来啊 (I beat you? I ASKED YOU TO CALM DOWN!)
SS: 你要我冷静你不可以好好跟我讲AH??? (Increasingly louder — IF YOU WANTED ME TO CALM DOWN YOU COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT NICELY???)
OFC：我已经好好跟你讲了 你怎么样你一直attack她 (I already told you nicely? Then you what? You keep attacking her.)
SS: (Indiscernible) 她没有打回我ah? (Didn't she beat me too?)
OFC: 她只可以反抗啊，她可以打你吗? (She could only resist, could she have beaten you?)
SS: 她先打我你听不懂吗? (She beat me first, don't you understand?)
OFC：她先打你是她的错可是你 (indiscernible)万一她打到头呢？你会内疚一辈子，她是你的NIECE AH!! (She was wrong to beat you first but (indiscernible) WHAT IF SHE HAD HIT HER HEAD? YOU'LL BE GUILTY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, SHE'S YOUR NIECE AH!!)

Although the clip continues for around 20 more minutes, the audio is mostly muffled and subdued.
It is worth noting that his niece (presumably referred to as "Brenda" in the conversation) was the one recording the whole incident. It is not clear for how long the audio continued after she was told to leave the scene.
Reportedly threw stapler at Beam Artiste ex-employee
Seow has apologised for slapping his niece in a press conference on May 16, the ST article reports.
He said that he had "acted in his capacity as an uncle and not as an employer".
Seow, however, denied the allegation made by the former Beam Artiste employee who filed the police report.
He was accused of throwing a metal stapler at her, cutting her and causing bleeding.
According to ST, the police report also claimed that the lawyer had thrown cold water on her face, hit and pushed her to the ground, and shouted, "I will take a knife and kill you".
Seow maintained that he has never done anything physical towards the former employee.
