Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, wife of Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, won widespread praise online on May 22.
This was after she was photographed carrying a handbag believed to have cost about S$40.

The Internet folks then snooped around and have since sussed out the exact brand and true cost of the handbag.
Siti Hasmah's bag is a leather bag from Japanese brand Hamano. The bag is sold for about US$533.
It is from the Delight Elegance model.

The description of the bag written in Japanese says that despite the all-leather material, it weighs only 550g.
The bag is also said to be spacious and has a zipper that opens all the way to the end on the sides, but there are no worries about the content spilling out owing to the triangular gussets.
