Commuters went on a sight-seeing trip on Saturday, May 19, 2018 after the Bukit Panjang LRT line broke down due to a track fault between Phoenix and Bukit Panjang Stations.
SMRT tweeted at 2.17pm announcing the breakdown and saying that they were "sorry":
[BPLRT] Due to a train fault between BP5 Phoenix and BP6 Bukit Panjang, there is no train service on BPLRT. Free bus services are available. We are sorry.

Excursion
However, they are probably not as sorry as these passengers, who got an excursion along the LRT tracks:
According to Channel NewsAsia, passengers were stuck on the train for around 20 minutes before an engineer came to the rescue.
After 10 minutes of "troubleshooting", the commuters were allowed to walk on the track towards Bukit Panjang station.
At 2.53pm, about half an hour after the initial breakdown announcement, SMRT tweeted that Train Service A has resumed:
[BPLRT] UPDATE: Train Service A has resumed. Our engineers are working hard to recover Service B. Free bus services are still available. We are sorry.

The entire inconvenience ended around 3.50pm:
[BPLRT] UPDATE: Fault cleared. Train Service B is gradually being restored. Free bus services are available until 4pm. We are sorry.
