Everyone misplaces their valuables at some point in their lives.

Just that for a Singaporean lady, Amalina Senin, it just had to be S$5,600 in cash that she misplaced.

Losing a wallet with S$5,600

According to The Straits Times, Amalina boarded a Grab car with her mother at Raffles Hospital on March 28, 2018 afternoon as they headed for home at Yuan Kang Road.

However, it was only at around 9pm in the evening that Amalina realised that she had left behind her wallet containing S$5,600.

Her mother had passed her that huge sum of money during the Grab ride to pay for her pilgrimage.

Returned by a stranger

Because of the thick S$50 stacks in her wallet, Amalina did not think that she would get her wallet back.

To her relief, however, a stranger reached out to Amalina's husband, Amin Mimie, saying that he found her wallet.

Liaw Yi Kang, a former NSF 3rd Sergeant, told them that he found the wallet in the car.

He managed to traced the couple as there was a receipt which had the woman's husband's name and mobile number on it.

Liaw gave Amin his address, and told him to come down anytime the next day between 8am to 5pm to retrieve the wallet. He assured them that everything in the wallet remained intact.

Amin offered Liaw S$100 as a token of their appreciation, but he declined to accept it.

In this post, Liaw shared that he returned the wallet after putting himself in the shoes of its owner:

"At that point of time, I thought that the owner who lost this purse would be panicking as it is a large sum of money. The owner must have needs to settle some issues urgently as no one would usually carry so much cash. $5,600 is really a huge sum of money to me as a young adult, and if I was the one who lost it, I would also panic."
