It's no secret, there are durians and durian picking enthusiasts in Singapore.

But did you know that Yishun (yes, that Yishun) has the most durians in Singapore with about 170 durian trees in its vicinity?

That's about a third of the total number of durian trees in the whole of Singapore, which comes to approximately 600 trees, according to Trees.sg.

Two types of durians

There are apparently two species of durians in Singapore - the regular durian and durian kampong.

Yishun alone has about 150 regular durian and roughly 90 kampong durian trees.

80 trees in Yishun Ave 1

Durian lovers in Yishun Avenue 1 in particular are in luck, with about 80 durian trees in that area.

But you should think twice before trying to loot the king of fruits here.

According to a report by Shin Min Daily News, the area is actually fenced up and even has a "no trespassing" sign.

However that didn't seem to deter durian lovers as the fence has apparently been broken into.

At your own risk

But really though, think twice before picking durians because you can never really get anything for free in Singapore.

The durian trees in Singapore generally have a girth size of about one to two metres.

According to the Parks and Trees Act, no person is allowed to cut or damage any tree with a girth exceeding one metre, growing on any tree conservation area or vacant land.

That means you can't pluck fruits from any tree with a girth of more than one metre on those plots of land.

If found guilty, one shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding S$50,000.

So if you have S$50,000 to spare, have fun going on a durian hunt around Singapore.
