The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry in Malaysia has apologised on Friday, Feb. 16, for getting the zodiac animal wrong.
The full-page Chinese New Year greeting advertisement printed in a local newspaper Sin Chew Daily showed a picture of a rooster barking, with the Chinese words that sound like "wang wang".
The ministry said on Facebook: “KPDNKK would like to apologise for the Chinese New Year advertisement. It was due to a technical mistake”.
It also apologised "a million" times for the error.
In Chinese custom, the Year of the Dog follows from the Year of the Rooster.
