Pilot escapes with light injuries after S'pore Airshow plane crashes at Changi Airport

The single-seater aircraft is from the South Korean aerobatic team.

A single-seater aircraft from the South Korean aerobatic team taking part in the Singapore Airshow 2018 was involved in an accident while taking off at Changi Airport's Runway 1 on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at about 1.24pm.

Footage of the plane showed it had skidded and crashed into a grass verge.

The pilot from the Republic of Korea Air Force's Black Eagles team managed to escape with light injuries.

As seen in the videos, Airport Emergency Service responded to the incident immediately and the fire was extinguished.

The aircraft was taking off for a flying display as part of the programme.
