There once were two neighbourhood cats in Ang Mo Kio who grew up together and were the best of friends. However, that friendship ended after a tragic encounter with a wild python.

Caesar Ho, 28, was at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, between Blk 330 and 331 on Jan. 23 when he discovered that a large python had "half-swallowed" a cat.

He uploaded several videos and of his encounter on Facebook, which you can see below:

Missing cat

Speaking to Mothership, Ho described exactly what he saw that night:

"I was exercising at the fitness corner when a lady came up and asked me if I'd seen a cat around. She said it was a stray cat, but she had been feeding it from young and it was missing."

While they were talking, Ho said that they noticed another cat nearby staring at an area with thick bushes.

According to the lady, this second cat had grown up together with the missing cat and they often played with each other.

They went to check it out, and that's when they discovered a huge snake in the bushes.

Gruesome discovery

Ho said that the snake had swallowed a cat "halfway". Unfortunately, it was the same cat that they had been looking for. Said Ho:

"I went to look at it, confirm it was a python."

The lady who fed the cats was distraught and had to sit down. Another bystander called pest control, who rolled up and assessed the situation.

However, they didn't immediately take action. Said Ho:

"They told me that the cat was dead and they cannot touch the snake. They have to wait for the snake to abandon the cat's body or swallow it completely, otherwise they might injure the snake."

Ho waited for quite a while, around two hours, but neither the python nor the men showed any signs of moving off, so he went back home.

The next day, Ho spoke to a man in the neighbourhood who said that this was the fourth time a snake had been caught in the area in the "past few years".
