Johor shoppers rejoice!

Capital 21 mall, touted to be Johor's largest mall with a gross floor area of one million square feet, is set to open by this August.

Last April, we noticed that Singaporeans were so excited about the mall, that some of them have already rated it five stars on Facebook.

The project’s developers told Channel NewsAsia yesterday (Jan 13) that the building will include MCM Studio, and it would house "the largest indoor theme park in Southeast Asia".

MCM Studio, which will occupy the third and fourth levels of the mall, will feature three main sections -- Movie Planet, Cartoon Planet and Music Planet.

The thematic mall will showcase five continents across its five floors -- America, Europe, Australia/Oceania, Asia, and Middle-East/Africa.

It will house 1,602 retail units that includes a ballroom, club house and a world museum with a 7-storey elevated car park.

Around 20-minute from Singapore only, minus traffic at the checkpoint

The foremost question on many Singaporeans' minds is: How far from Singapore?

Or to be more specific, how long will it take to reach the mall?

It depends.

Woodlands Checkpoint

According to Google Maps, Woodlands checkpoint is a shorter route and will take about 22 minutes.

The caveat is the traffic jam, even without the checkpoint waiting. For instance, a Google Maps check on Sunday revealed an additional 27-minute delay.

Tuas Checkpoint

On the west side, Tuas is definitely further away from the mall (35 minutes), but the traffic might be smoother.

Whatever it is, be prepared for some wait at either of the checkpoints over the weekend, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
