[UPDATE on Friday, Jan. 19: LTA has confirmed the officer is an LTA outsourced parking warden, and has reported the case to the police.]

Sometimes, it's tough doing your job enforcing the law.

That was without a doubt the experience of an enforcement officer who came across a private bus parked along a double yellow zigzag line at Marina View Link — just below The Sail @ Marina Bay condominium.

The incident took place on Sunday, Jan. 14 at about 4pm, according to the time stamp on the GoPro footage taken from what seems to be the officer's helmet.

The clip of his encounter with the bus's driver was uploaded by one Abdul Aleem Mohamed Saffrollahkhan to Facebook on Wednesday morning.

Here's a breakdown and transcript/ translation of the exchange that took place between them:

Clear as day, bus with visible licence plate is parked on a double yellow zigzag line.

Not only is it illegal to park there — you're not even allowed to stop there:

So he walks up to the driver, seated in the bus, and addresses him -- here's how the conversation goes down:

Officer: Abang, here cannot wait sir.

Driver: Here cannot park, I waiting here, I never go in anywhere.

Officer: Cannot wait sir, cannot park here. No stopping zone.

(The bus sounds its horn, moves forward. The driver gets out of the vehicle, slams the door and approaches the officer threateningly.)

Driver: Tumbuk lu punya muka, lu tulis-tulis lu kimak lu keling. Lu Malaysian mari sini mau kerja betul-betul.

(Translation: I will punch your face, you write some more, you mother's vagina ("pukimak" is a Malay swear word), you keling [a derogatory term to describe a person of Indian ethnicity]. You come from Malaysia, you jolly well do your work properly.)

Officer: Saya datang Singapore buat kerja saya…

(Translation:I come to Singapore to do my job properly.... [he gets cut off])

Driver: Lu jalan la, apa tulis lagi?

(Translation: Get lost, what are you writing some more?)

Officer: Saya mana ada tulis apa-apa?

(Translation: I'm not writing anything?)

Driver: Buka... pukimak lu.

(Translation: Open it [likely referring to the officer's summon ticket book], you mother's vagina.)

Officer: Jangan sentuh saya.

(Translation: Don't touch me.)

Driver: LU JALAN!

(Translation: YOU GET LOST!)

Officer: Siapa saya mau jalan?

(Translation: Why should I walk away?)

Driver: LU JALAN LA… Jangan sampai gua tumbuk lu punya muka

(Translation: GET LOST.... Don't make me punch your face.)

Driver (goes off on a rant): Pukimak lu punya pasal gua banyak duit saman tau… Lu jalan… Lu jalan! Lu datang Singapore buat kerja betul-betul, jangan macam sial tau…. [muffled] motor buang. Jangan sampai gua tumbuk lu punya muka lu jalan! Jangan tulis-tulis lagi!

(Translation: Mother's vagina, because of you, I have lots of fine tickets... Get lost, get lost! If you're coming to Singapore to work, do it properly. Don't be a b*tch. [muffled, but something along the lines of "throw away your motorcycle"]. Don't make me punch your face. Go away! Stop writing!)

Officer: Sir, saya buat kerja saya tapi saya tak saman sir.

(Translation: Sir, I'm doing my job, I'm not even giving you a fine.)

Driver: Lu jalan ok lu jalan jangan tulis-tulis lagi eh pukimak.

(Translation: You just get lost ok. Don't write anything, you mother's vagina.)

After this, the officer retreats to behind where he parked his motorcycle to make a call, presumably to a colleague or manager of his to report the incident and where it was taking place. The video gets cut off halfway through his report, though, and we don't eventually find out whether or not the bus actually leaves the double yellow zigzag line.

Not cool, guys.

By the way, under the Protection from Harassment Act:

6.—(1)  No person shall by any means

(a) use any indecent, threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour; or

(b) make any indecent, threatening, abusive or insulting communication, towards or to a public servant or public service worker (referred to for the purposes of this section as the victim) in relation to the execution of the victim’s duty as such public servant or public service worker.

(2)  No offence is committed under this section unless the person knows or ought reasonably to know that the victim was acting in his capacity as a public servant or public service worker, as the case may be.

(3)  Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and, subject to section 8, shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.
