Ready for some face-melting fun?

The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival is finally open.

After a week-long delay, the biggest carnival in Singapore is opening its doors to the public on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017.

Two sections

The event is split into two sections: One at the Promontory and the other at the Bayfront Event Space.

Entry to the event is free.

Charges for the rides and game booths apply.

Credits can be bought on-site.

Opening hours are from 4pm to 11pm daily, except for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, when the carnival is open from 3pm to 2am.

Here are the 5 rides you ought not to miss:

1. Mach 5

At 55 metres high, riders get swung round and round. It goes up to 130km/h for a truly face-melting experience as you can feel the g-force. Goes in both directions. Lasts about two to three minutes.

2. Star Flyer

A 35-metre carousel where riders dangle their legs as they spin round and round.

A nice view of the CBD.

3. Das Fun Schiff

This is German for "The Fun Ship".

It is basically the good old Viking ride.

Try to sit at the far ends for the most extreme experience.

When swung to its apex on both sides, riders' upper bodies will be parallel to the ground.

A bladder-stimulating experience when going down.

4. Euro Coaster

Once you have tried Mach 5 and Star Flyer, this mini roller-coaster is not much kick.

But good for people who just need a slight dose of adrenaline. Suitable for older folks who cannot deal with full-blown buttocks-clenching excitement.

5. Jungle River

This ride will make you wet.

Do note that the event is fully outdoors. There is very little shelter during foul weather.

Promontory:

Bayfront Event Space:

Other games:

There are a million prizes to be won, apparently, as well as other less head-spinning rides available.

Food:

Be prepared to fork out about S$15 to S$20 per pax. The food is pretty swell.

Verdict:

About 3,000 to 4,000 times more exciting than Christmas Wonderland 2017 at Gardens By The Bay.
