BlueSG is rolling out Singapore's first large-scale electric car-sharing scheme on Dec. 12, 2017.

There will be two plans for renting the cars.

1st plan:

S$15 monthly subscription + 33 cents per minute

Suitable for more frequent users as the fixed S$15 is spread out.

Each 30-minute ride will cost S$9.90, on top of the S$15 monthly subscription.

2nd plan:

No monthly fee, but 50 cents per minute

Suitable for ad hoc users.

Each 30-minute ride will cost S$15.

Charged according to duration, not distance

Users will be charged according to the duration of use instead of the distance travelled.

The scheme will start with 80 cars.

Users can rent the cars via a BlueSG mobile application, which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

There will be 30 BlueSG stations with 120 charging points across the island by the year end.

Of the 30 stations, 18 are in public housing estates such as Tampines, Bishan and Punggol, while 10 will be in the city centre. The remaining two are in the one-north business park and the Singapore Science Park.

BlueSG cars are two-door, four-seater hatchbacks. They can travel up to 250km on one full charge of their lithium-metal-polymer batteries.

How it works

Rent the car

Visit any BlueSG charge point across Singapore and follow the easy steps below:

1. Tap your BlueSG card on the card reader of a charge point (with a BlueSG car connected).

2. Unlock the car by tapping your card on the reader located next to the driver's wing mirror.

3. Open the vehicle's power door at the back of the car, unplug the cable and return it to the charge point.

4. Close the vehicle's power door correctly, check the exterior condition of the car ans take a seat inside.

Drive and return the car

5. Turn on the engine and check the range and status of your car. If you notice a problem before driving away, inform the call centre by pushing the blue button in the car.

6. The BlueSG service is a one-way car-sharing, so you can return your car to any of our many locations. Once you’ve parked the car in your chosen space (which you can reserve in advance), simply hold your badge over the charging station, pull out the cable, and carefully follow the instructions to plug in your Bluecar.

7. The rental ends when you have plugged in the car. To lock the car doors and prevent another driver from starting it, hold your card over the windshield reader. If necessary, you can still reopen the doors to remove your belongings.
