The Singapore Police Force put up a Facebook post on Dec. 27, at 6.33pm, alerting the public about an incident at Bedok Mall:
According to initial tweets on the incident, the man went from shop to shop in the mall while wielding a knife.
However, Mothership.sg understands that the man was wielding a pair of scissors instead.

Speaking to The Straits Times, the 21-year-old Twitter user revealed that the incident occurred around 5.30pm to 6pm.
"I saw a man in his mid-20s screaming and shouting in shops in Bedok Mall, toppling and breaking stuff from shops," he said.
"I couldn't get a close view because I was 2m to 3m away from the incident. I saw a couple of men pinning him down at some watch shop. He did quite some damage to a couple of shops, including glass blinds."

Another comment on SPF's Facebook post said the same, although his source might also be from Twitter:
Other witnesses said people at the mall were taking videos of the incident.
