Organisers of the Yolo Run 2017 have issued a public apology and an explanation for the major snafus that plagued their event.
This was after participants took to social media to complain and slam the organisers for a poorly-executed, but supposedly high-performance running event on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017.
It was the third time the run was being held in Singapore. It consists of a 21.1km competitive run, a 10km competitive run and a 5km non-competitive run.

From the get-to
The event suffered from poor organisation from the moment runners arrived at the venue at the F1 Pit Building.
The other problems included a delay in starting time by almost one hour, confusing and unprofessional routes that led runners into oncoming traffic and a jostling for space, long waiting times for bag collection and general chaos throughout the event as there were little crowd control and shoddy logistics.
Shortened route
Two of the most amateur mistakes committed was the shortening of the 10km running route to 7km:
According to the Yolo Run organisers, this was a mistake by the event's external consultant who made changes to the course.
The external consultant took immediate remedial action to hasten the already delayed flag-off for the half marathon without informing the event owners, but this only resulted in the half marathon and 10km route to be affected.
Stairway on running route
Worse, the running route led to participants having to climb up a flight of stairs, otherwise known as The Stairway To The Finish Line, causing one of multiple severe bottlenecks en route to the finish line.

The organiser said in the Facebook post: "We take responsibility for the issues faced by all runners today and we will seriously take everyone's feedback into consideration to ensure future issues do not occur."
