A 24-year-old woman was allegedly injured after being thrown off a 23m long and 9m tall slide in the newly revamped Admiralty Park's urban play area.

The play area, where the playground and slides are located is part of what is now the largest park in the north at 27-ha (or 270,000 square meters).

Various parts of body injured

According to Shin Min Daily News (SMDN), the incident occurred on Sunday, Nov. 5 around 6pm

The administrative worker, identified only as Ms Jiang, injured various parts of her body, including head, shoulder, arms, and upper thighs.

She sustained several bruises to her head, shoulders, arms and calf, for which she visited a Chinese physician and spent S$52.

Speaking to the Chinese daily, Jiang said that the slide was very steep, which resulted in a high-speed ride. In a panic, she tried using her hands to steady herself, but eventually lost control and got thrown off the slide.

Her sister who got on the same slide also sustained a sizeable bruise to her leg.

Jiang observed that the speed of the slide also appeared to be too fast for other users.

Most popular feature

SMDN reporters who went down to the park found that the slides are the most popular feature in the park, and thrill-seekers had to wait for up to half an hour to experience it.

Jiang told the reporters:

"I hope my experience can remind other park users to be careful of safety while enjoying their time at the park. I also hope the authorities can take appropriate safety measures to prevent others from suffering the same mishap as me. "
