3 S'pore properties in the ridiculous top 1% category

Like The Sims, but in real life.

Getting a property of your own is a dream come true for many Singaporeans, who hail from a land-scarce country.

And what seemed like the most natural thing to do when we were younger was to grow up, get married, move out of our parents' house, and acquire a place of our own.

But of course, life gets in the way sometimes (like you just have to while your time away on the internet, for example) and the lack of social mobility sets in, resulting in a healthy dose of disillusionment and plans that go awry.

In that case, here are three sprawling, elaborate houses to gape at, belonging to other people who have been playing real life Sims in Singapore:

1. 13 Cove Grove by Aamer Architects

Sentosa Cove, 870sqm

The house is designed to curve like a boomerang to maximise the waterfront view and allow all bedrooms access to it.

Such geometry also permits a 25-metre lap pool to be incorporated on one side of the ground floor, and it continues as a water feature that wraps around the living and dining spaces.

2. Far Sight House by Wallflower Architecture and Design

Bukit Timah, 463sqm

This property comprises two main floors, an attic space and a terrace that overlooks Singapore's greener areas.

The house is designed to allow the breeze to easily enter the house and lower the overall temperature of the interior.

3. Merryn Road by Aamer Architects

Bukit Timah (Two units)

This property consists of two units divided into three houses: One for the owner himself, and the others designed with the future of his two sons and their future families in mind.

Timber, marble, and granites blend well with the vertically stacked gardens.

A bathroom which opens to the garden.

A rooftop swimming pool with views of the surrounding estate, which consists of mostly two-storey bungalows.
