In an age where mobile devices seem to be taking over our lives, addiction to them can sometimes lead to ugly scenes.

This was what happened on a street of Fushun county in Sichuan Province, China.

In a minute-long video that was first shared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, a rebellious 15-year-old girl was filmed kicking her dad who tried to take away her phone.

Phone was forcefully taken away

According to Oriental Daily, the teenager was on her way to an Internet café with her friend when her parents found her.

They tried to get her to come home with them, but the girl refused.

Her parents then confiscated her phone to fix her phone addiction, prompting her to fly into a rage and send no fewer than five kicks towards her dad, with curious onlookers surrounding them.

In scenes resembling a kung fu movie, her dad first took hold of her arm and flung her away from him when she tried to get her phone back.

She then retaliated by giving him a kick on the lower back when his back was turned.

Furious that his own kid had lashed out at him, the dad turned around to teach her a lesson. This time, he opted for an attempted slap on her face.

Not willing to admit defeat, the girl aimed another kick at her dad. But he was able to grab hold of her leg by the ankle. Aided by the helpful onlooker, they sent her sprawling to the ground.

But she refused to give up and kicked out at her dad again. This time, he anticipated the attack and directed it away from him à la kung fu master-style.

Obsessed with phone after dropping out of school

The girl continued her attacks against her dad. It was only half an hour later when the police arrived on the scene that the situation was brought under control.

The girl has now returned home with her parents to Chengdu, but still refused to speak to them.

According to the father, while he and his wife were busy working in Chengdu, their daughter had stopped attending school, and became obsessed with her phone. She also stayed out constantly and refused to go home.

He now simply hopes for her rebellious phase to pass, and for her to find a stable job.
