If you've watched enough dramas, you'd have known or heard about loansharks and their runners splashing paint, tinner, urine and blood or even hanging a pig's head outside the borrower's home, demanding payment.
This particular loanshark runner, however, did things a little bit more creatively when he didn't have the required materials at hand.
Sittaraman Sam Kris Carbonel, a Filipino, was facing financial issues when he was approached by Singaporean Sabtu Yazid to act as a runner for a loanshark, who went by the name "Larry".
He had gotten to know Sabtu earlier in March.
Prior to this fateful assignment, which happened in July 2017, Sittaraman had carried out four other assignments at different HDB blocks in areas such as Choa Chu Kang, Boon Lay and Jurong East.
When it came to the stall at Pasir Panjang, however, he realised he didn't have the "materials" needed for the assignment -- human faeces and urine -- so he turned to melted chocolate, green tea and kaya to substitute as the bodily waste, and threw them at the hawker stall.
Sittaraman has since been arrested and will face 16 months’ jail and six strokes of the cane.
For his assignments as a loanshark runner, he could face up to five years' imprisonment and a fine up to S$50,000, for each charge under the Moneylenders Act.
