3 men arrested for beautiful but illegal Deepavali fireworks in Yishun

The police said in a statement on Tuesday, Oct. 24 that three men have been arrested for setting off fireworks, according to The Straits Times:

Obviously it is in Yishun: Block 419A, Yishun Avenue 11.

Although not specifically mentioned, it was probably to usher in Deepavali 2017.

Why

Fireworks have been banned in Singapore since 1972.

According to the Dangerous Fireworks Act, no person shall have in his possession or discharge any dangerous fireworks.

If convicted of the offence of discharge of dangerous fireworks, they can jailed for up to two years and/ or fined between S$2,000 and S$10,000.
