As if he needs any introduction, Jay Chou is a well-known Taiwanese singer and musician behind many a Mando-pop hit Singaporeans belt out off-key at karaoke.
He has since gone beyond just focusing on his music career, to becoming the ideal person that our government wants us to become a producer, actor and director, and also finding time to get married and have two kids.
But we digress.
Doppelganger?
Recently, a Chinese netizen found some person who happened to be the spitting image of Jay Chou while waiting in queue to enter a restaurant.
Pictures of him were initially sent in a personal chat group on WeChat, before being uploaded to Weibo, one of China's biggest social media platforms.
Now here's a pic of Chou for comparison:
And here is the guy the netizen saw:
Here's a side by side comparison, just because:
Rare find
Statistically, it's kind of hard to find a person's doppelgänger.
According to this article by the BBC, the chances of sharing some similarity in appearance to a complete stranger are less than one in a trillion.
But of course, with globalisation, ease of transport and the power of makeup, finding someone that looks kind of like you could potentially become a significantly easier task.
That said, you'd still have to lower your expectations if you, say, decided to set out on a quest to find your exact twin. And of course, in this case, Chou's doppelgänger bears clear differences in jaw and face shape.
Still, with the uncanny resemblance, he likely would have to deal with the occasional embarrassing moment, courtesy of random fans who might mistake him for the Taiwanese artist.
But then again, his gaze suggests otherwise. His side-eye suggests he is more than ready to take on a crowd of screaming fans. Or to capitalise on his looks. Maybe both.
