How cool is tech these days?

A S$1,770 drone is so capable of taking breathtaking cinematic shots of Singapore anyone can now make their directorial debut.

High-resolution videos

The following video is proof that wide and stable high-res video work is no longer the purview of studios:

This video is shot by amateurs piloting a drone camera, the DJI Mavic Pro.

With an airborne time of 30 minutes and a range of 8km, it is one of the longer-range drones on the market for consumers.

With this longer range, there is lesser risk of losing signal and allows for uncut sweeping video work.

No Fly Zone technology

What is most amazing about this recent advancement in technology is not just how far cameras have come in the last few years, but how fast professional tools are increasingly in the hands of hobbyists.

And to also ensure regular users fall within safety and security protocol, this particular DJI drone has a No Fly Zone (NFZ) feature that can help users avoid inadvertently entering restricted areas, such as airports.

In certain locations, the device will automatically be prevented from takeoff, or if already in flight towards the location, will pause at the boundary and not enter.

However, the NFZ system, which is an informational feature, does not include all areas that might raise concerns. Any map provided by DJI is for advisory purposes only. It is still the onus of the user to determine what laws or regulations apply and to obtain any required official authorisations.

Based on quality of the footage shot, it can be easily cut into a made in Singapore thriller trailer:

"This summer. When everyday is summer. Where life is safe..."

"And safety is order..."

"And order is comfort."

"A plan has been hatched..."

"Across the horizon."

"To find a solution..."

"To take out of a perfect world."

"One man is on a quest..."

"Back to paradise."
