In this day and age, the sound of revving engines and the sight of motorcycle convoys are becoming more common at Malay weddings.

Admittedly, an escort of motorcycles does add a certain element of badassery to the matrimonial proceedings.

Sometimes, some of the riders perform stunts like "wheelies" and "donuts" to pay homage to the newly-married couple, just like this video that went viral on Oct. 6, 2017:

Illegal stunts

While it may seem like pure fun and camaraderie, this common ritual amongst the local motorcycle community is actually illegal.

The following comments show some instances where this is troubling:

"It is a happy occasion and I wish the newlyweds happiness but it is very inconsiderate to cause air pollution for everyone staying there. Pls spare a thought for others."

"This is so wrong on so many levels. This behaviour should not be allowed. Air pollutions, noise, damages on the tiles and so inconsiderate plus causing inconvenience to the locals living there."

"Race and culture aside, but is this really needed? If yes, to draw a circle for the groom to stand in, couldn't he use charcoal? Pity the residents having to smell burnt rubber especially when the biker did this..."
