A video has been posted on Facebook on Sept. 17, 2017, allegedly showing traffic police stopping vehicles on the expressway to create a clear passage for Madam President Halimah Yacob to return to her Yishun flat.

The approximately two-minute video was accompanied by a Mandarin voice-over, presumably by the driver of the vehicle who was pulled over.

It is not known when the video was taken, nor were the exact time and location mentioned.

But the surroundings showed it is most likely along an expressway en route to Yishun as the driver claimed.

More than a dozen traffic police and escort vehicles make up the presidential motorcade.

Here is the Mandarin voice-over translated:

The police have ordered all the vehicles to move to the side. Our president is passing by.

Everyone, take a look at this exciting scene.

Police vehicles, one by one, speed towards Yishun. This is how taxpayers' monies are spent.

Another police vehicle has sped by, the president is approaching and going back to her estate to rest.

We have homes but we cannot go back as we are stopped by the side of the road as we await the president to travel back home.

This is a absurd situation.

How many traffic police, how much of taxpayers' monies are spent everyday to provide such security?

All because our president doesn't want to stay in the Istana, but remain in Yishun.

Everyday she must travel from Yishun to Istana, and Istana back to Yishun, both ways will be overseen by tight security.

Every road she's on have to be secured. Just think about it.

She is still not here yet. Let us continue to wait.

You can take a look at the security for the president's transport.

Watch carefully, at the people's president.

She said she would leave the security to the security team when the traffic police ought to be dealing with traffic issues.

Ah, there they go.

Update:

Mothership.sg understands from the police that such police vehicle escort for the president is reserved for major occasions and will not be a daily occurrence.

Police also confirmed that this video was taken on the night after President Halimah was sworn in on Sept. 14, 2017. She was travelling from the Istana back to Yishun. The delay to motorists was less than two minutes.
