One of the more famous renditions of the Kinaku soft serve with gold leaf (~S$12.75) lies outside central Kyoto, near World Heritage-listed site Kinkakuji Golden Pavillion temple.
But if you're a philistine like us (ok, just me), this will not matter anymore — because the dessert is now in Singapore.

Small Potatoes Ice Creamery which has a branch at Somerset 313 and another at Novena Square 2, is now offering the soft serve in two flavours, Sea Salt Caramel with Gold Leaf (S$12) and Purple Potato with Silver Leaf (S$10).
Both gold and silver leaves are imported from Japan, and are made from food-grade 24k gold (in other words, real, edible gold).
The Japanese believe that ingesting gold will aid in maintaining youthfulness and prolonging life span — but whatever, we all know we're here for the 'gram.
If you need anything else to justify the price you're paying for it, only Hokkaido milk is used to make the soft serve.
The dessert will only be in stores until they sell out, so best get your crusty a*s there quick.
