Football Association of Singapore, wake up, please.

Singapore looks set to be the whipping boy of football in Southeast Asia, Asia, planet Earth, Milky Way and the universe, for the next 30 to 40 years to come.

Or forever.

This after the Singapore Cubs, otherwise known as the under-16 team, lost 0-11 to Japan on Sept. 22, 2017, during a match for the Asian Football Confederation Under-16 Championship 2018 qualifiers.

Conceded multiple goals in quick succession

The rugby scoreline was achieved as Singapore conceded goals in the 7th, 24th, 37th, 38th, 41st, 50th, 51st, 60th, 77th, 80th and 86th minutes of the match.

The first half saw Singapore go down 0-5.

This surreal scoreline follows a 6-1 drubbing by Malaysia just two days earlier on Sept. 20.

Not the footballers fault, though

However, looking through the various comments on the Football Association of Singapore Facebook post showed that support for the Singapore U-16 boys was still reasonable:

This is partly due to the recognition that Japan is, after all, a footballing powerhouse.

In the opening AFC U-16 Championship 2018 Malaysia Group J qualifier on Wednesday, Japan destroyed Guam 20-0.

In comparison to this scoreline, Singapore conceding 11 goals is a step up from Guam.

Criticism was reserved for the FAS instead, where it was singled out for its abysmal management of all things football in Singapore.

Singapore will play Guam on Sept. 24.

A win, or at least a draw, will see Singapore not finishing last in the group.
